NORTHLINE MUSIC
The label of the
Northline Music Corporation, of Birkenhead. The only 7" record I have
seen on the Northline Music label
was an EP by Folk trio Kinfolk which offered versions of 'Early
Morning Rain', 'Plaisir D'Amour', 'This Land Is Your Land' and 'Amazing Grace'. It was released
in 1977 and it ran to a couple of pressings, which, as
the scans show, had different labels. Its catalogue number was NL-510, but a scratched-out number on the run-off
suggests it was initially intended to be KIN-001. Pressing was by Orlake. The were also at least three
albums, which were numbered in a NL-150 series. They
were Colin Areety's 'I've Got To Make It' (NL-151), 'Astral' by The
Hamilton Sound (NM-152) and 'Got To Get You Into
My Life' by Scott Roberts (NL-153; 1978). The nature of the
four records suggests that Northline acted either as a custom recording concern
or as an outlet for artists who were popular locally.
